Hello! I finally feel well enough that I'm not wholly thinking about my mouth pain. So, recalling what I've learned. です(Desu) - it isじゃありません(Jaarimasen) - it is notでした (Deshita) - it wasじゃありませんでした (Jaarimasen deshita) - it was notYou can add か (ka) to the end of them to turn them into questions, 何ですか?

じゃありませんでした(it was not)
Just something I recall from the other day when I was reading ahead. いいえ、ねこ。じゃありませんでした。犬でした。 No, it was not a cat. It was a dog. Again, the (i) in deshita is "silent" so it's pronounced like desh-ta
So I got my tooth pulled
Yesterday, I broke my tooth and they pulled the loose piece and today they had to pull the rest. Hopefully once my pain subsides I'll be back with some learning. It's like this, but mouth.
It was (でした)
Pronounced desh-ta (no I sound) https://videopress.com/v/ZOxSzwT7?preloadContent=metadata Ahhhhhh 🤐😬😳 Eep. Please don't judge too harshly. That was the best way I could work on pronunciation and remembering things. Next up will be combining the past with the negative, but it's 10:30 on, EST and Im going to bed!
On’yomi & Kun’yomi
On'yomi is the Chinese pronunciation of the kanji as it was imported to Japan. There's often multiple on'yomi per kanji. You usually only need to learn one or two per kanji. Kun'yomi is the native Japanese words that have been attached to kanji as it was imported from China.
Day 3
😛 犬ですか?いいえ、犬じゃありません。猫です。 Translation: is it a dog? No, it is not a dog. It is a cat. Learning currently じゃありません(jaarimasen) which is 'it is not.' As usual, the sentence structure is backwards, where sentences would literally translate to Dog, it? No, dog it is not. Cat it is.
ブログですか?
はい、ブログです。 Haha, okay. Season 1 is gone and I've proceeded onto season 2. It starts with learning how to ask questions in Japanese and saying yes in Japanese. Adding か to the end of です turns it into a question. You can also use はい (yes) to answer them. (random thought insertion) Does Anki have… Continue reading ブログですか?
Day 2
やあ! I've returned and I'm back with hella tooth pain. 😭 Fussing aside, です is 'it is' in Japanese. Example: ねこです。 Speaking of cats, here's my spoiled boy 八六。if you look really hard in the background you'll see his mom Halsey. Always happy to have a snuggly baby with me. Studying or not. 💞 Next… Continue reading Day 2
Day 1 (take 2)
Long vowels have a very subtle pronunciation difference between regular vowels. The example used in the online text is こういち, which is also Koichi, who is the creator(?) of TextFugu and Wanikani. From TextFugu Season 1 The small tsu is used when there's a double consonant and is placed in front of the consonant that… Continue reading Day 1 (take 2)
Day 1 (ish)
こんにちは!So, I am way past my actual day 1. That's was like 3 years ago of starting and stopping. At any rate, I'm going to be logging my progress as I go. As of current, I've managed to have a solid recall on all things Hiragana (regular, dakuten, and combo) Struggling with my Katakana recall,… Continue reading Day 1 (ish)
