Verbal Nouns

Some nouns can form a verb with します。These nouns are called verbal nouns. When a verb is borrowed from a foreign language, it is treated as a verbal noun.

1. Verbal nouns can be used with or without を
2. You cannot use をtwice in a single clause

ex: 1. べんきょうをします。 or 勉強します。
2. にほんごを勉強します。(okay)
日本語の勉強をします。(okay)
日本語を勉強をします。(no)

コピー（を）します – to copy
テキストをコピーします。

Final Partical ね

Like よ, ね can appear in sentence-final position. It’s function is at times similar to the English tag question.

わあ、いいですね。「＾rising intonation」
明日、図書館へ行きますね。「＾rising intonation」

１．そうですか　ー used when you’ve just acquired new information. (is that so?/really? oh yeah?)
２．そうですね　ー used when you agree with the preceding statement.
